Meet Our Board
Tom Hubbs, Director
Tom's career spans over thirty years of successful financial and operational management at leading technology companies. He has led IPOs for interWAVE Communications International, VeriFone, Inc., and Ungermann-Bass, and has orchestrated acquisitions, equity financings, and mergers. As executive vice president and CFO of interWAVE from 1995 to 2000, Hubbs led the post-IPO acquisition of three privately held companies and successfully integrated their 165 employees. Serving as vice president, finance and CFO of VeriFone from 1987 to 1995-a period in which company revenues grew from $30 million to $450 million. He built the financial team from four to over ninety worldwide, and was named one of UPSIDE Magazine's 1990 CFO "All-Stars." Hubbs began his corporate career following U.S. Army service in logistics management systems.
Hubbs holds a master's in business administration from the University of Santa Clara and a bachelor of science in business administration with honors from Lehigh University. He serves on the boards of publicly held Celeritek, Inc. (Nasdaq: CLTK) as well as private companies DisCopy Labs.
Tom has served on the PROVISTA Board since 1989.
Steve Taylor, Director
Steve Taylor has 25+ years of experience in IT obtained within Japanese, U.S. and European companies. Steve is currently responsible for Global IT Operations and Engineering IT/Cluster Management with ARM, the worldwide leader in Semiconductor IP. Prior to joining ARM, Taylor was the Director of IT at CIENA and was most recently focused on obtaining their initial SOx compliance in the areas of GCC and Operational Practices. Steve had earlier been involved in Silicon Valley startups Pluris, as VP Information Systems, and at Kestrel Solutions as Director of IT. In both positions, he was responsible for the company's IT Infrastructure, Support and Applications Systems environments. Prior to Kestrel, Mr. Taylor was the European IS Manager and later Senior IT Manager based out of California for AMD, where his responsibilities ranged from managing IS departments across four European countries, to development of custom applications for global deployment, to developing workgroup and knowledge management technologies within AMD's Sunnyvale, Calif. headquarters.
Mr. Taylor holds a BEd in education from the University of Leeds and a Post Graduate Degree in Business Management from the University of Huddersfield.
Mr. Taylor holds dual US and UK citizenship and has served on the PROVISTA board since 2005.
Dean Witter III, Director
Dean (Kip) Witter III's finance career started over 30 years ago with US Leasing International, Inc., after which he spent 12 years in various finance positions at Amdahl Corporation (formerly ASE: AMH). His last five years there were as Vice President and Treasurer. Since Amdahl, Kip was a founder of Eeonyx Corporation (privately held). He was a senior consultant with the Capstone Group and The Brenner Group, where he specialized in providing financial executive consulting to high-growth and early-stage clients. These included Hello Direct, Inc.; DigiCash, Inc.; The Blue Team; GenOA Corporation; BusinessBots and Telcontar. Kip joined Hello Direct, Inc. (formerly NASDAQ: HELO) and served as its Chief Financial Officer until the time of its acquisition by GN Great Nordic. He worked for 4 years in New York as President and CEO, and then as Chairman, of William D. Witter, Inc., a registered investment advisor.
Kip received an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BA in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College (magna cum laude). He served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army. Kip is a director of Eeonyx Corporation and is also the president of The Dean Witter Foundation. He serves as a trustee of the Harvey and Maud Sorensen Foundation and as trustee and treasurer of the Mounted Patrol of San Mateo County Foundation.
Kip has served on the PROVISTA Board since 1990.
